TUNNEL VISION is based around a single-track tunnel on the North Cornwall Railway, running under the hamlet of Trelill - the only tunnel on the line. Unless you battled the undergrowth and the barbed wire, as shown above, you'd never know it was there but for over sixty years this line would take trains every day from London to Padstow , including the Atlantic Coast Express.
Locals of Delabole ask themselves: could this line make an extended Cycle trail? Journalist Robbie Glendenning offers to trial the route and stumbles across a skeleton inside. The police are not gripped by the case but Robbie finds various links to the old railway - still operating 50 years ago. Eventually he provokes a reaction - but not the one he might have hoped. It is not until the belated arrival of analyst George Gilbert that the case can move to a striking conclusion. |
